In just a few hours, the journey will begin. After a bus ride, three plane rides, and some layover time in airports, we’ll finally set foot on the African soil… some 30 hours later! I’m sure we’ll have some good times of fellowship, some funny stories to tell, and hopefully some opportunities to minister while we’re in route, but make no mistake about it… the transportation is simply a necessary means to an end. God has been preparing us for Kenya for months now. He’s opened our heart to His call. He’s given us a vision for the task. He’s generously provided the resources that are making the vision a reality. He’s grown our faith through trials & testing, so that we will more readily trust and obey. He has supplied us with His inerrant word and His indwelling Spirit to be our manual and guide. And He has drawn us close to Him so that He can produce fruit through us.
We don’t know what awaits us en route, or even once we arrive at our destination. Sure, we’ve got our schedules and we’ve got our plans, but we really don’t know what to expect. The good news is that we know our God. He has proven Himself faithful time and again. So, we will choose to trust Him and His providence. We will remember that “the mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs His steps” (Prov. 16:9). We will strive to “trust in Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding; acknowledging Him in all our ways so that He will direct our steps” (Prov. 3:5-6 ). We will depend upon the truth of His word as a “lamp to our feet and a light to our path” (Psalm 119:105). And we will rejoice in the fact that “He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion” (Phil. 1:6). What is it that He will bring to completion? We’ll just have to wait and see… and so will you! Whatever it is, it’s sure gonna be good! So, keep reading and taking every step of this journey with us and keep praying for God to do big things for His name’s sake. Press on!
P.S. If you haven’t done so, we’d love for you to print out the prayer guide that you’ll find a few posts down this page, so that you can pray for specific needs each day of our trip. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteDid you invite any black teenagers to go and witness the country full of black people? I mean it is 2011, not the 1800s.
ReplyDeleteGod doesn't look at the outside. He looks at the heart. I know all of you have a heart for Him. Go and share Him with others. Sing His praises, and allow Him to shape and mold you on this journey to be even more like Him. We are praying for great things to happen there, and in your own hearts. Don't be discouraged by satan for he is always prowling around, but greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Let your lights shine brightly. Love and prayers Lori Denton
ReplyDeleteHey guys! So excited that you have arrived safely and have begun serving and sharing with God's precious people there. I pray that they will see Jesus in each one of you as you love on them and minister to them. I also pray that God will change hearts and minds including each of yours to resemble Him more as you continue to press on throughout your trip. May souls be saved from satan's grip and added to God's kingdom daily. To God be the glory for great things He has done and continues to do!

"If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." Psalm 139:9-10
God,s mighty angels are with each of you with every step you take and each word you speak.
ReplyDeleteI pray each of you will become stronger messengers of the Word, that you will stomp
satan under your feet, and always remember you
have a circle of protection around you that protects you. You are a child of the most high
God and He will guide you. Give God the glory.
