Day 1 of our Safari in Maasai Mara was incredible! We had so many "wow" moments! What an incredible artist our planet has! We saw the great wildebeest migration, leopard, lions (20 all together, with 2 males and a whole pride of 15!), elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, cheetah, ostrich, warthogs, Thompson gazelles, impalas, topi, hartebeests, hyenas, jackals, baboons, monkeys, storks, buzzards, hawks, secretary birds, and a variety of other incredible creatures! As the sun set, we made our way to Sierra Springs Tented Camp, another beautiful place, for the night. Aron, our team "animal whisperer" found a hyrex and her two babies and we were able to hold these balls of fur. Thank you Father for allowing us this exciting glimpse of your glory... you are truly an amazing God!
Answering God's call to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations, ten high school students (along with their adult leaders) from Dodge County, GA will be on mission to Kenya, July 30 - August 11, 2011. On this site, you'll not only be able to follow our journey, you'll be equipped to partner with us through the power of prayer. Your comments are encouraged and your prayers are coveted. Thank you in advance! To God be the glory!

Safari Day 1 - Maasai Mara, Kenya
Gen 1:25 - "God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good."

I've been anxiously awaiting your post, so glad to have this contact with the group's adventures. WOW; what an awesome day for each of you. By the way, I saw a buzzard today too! I wish someone had told Zach not to wear dress socks with his shorts!
ReplyDeleteBobby
So glad that you all had another great time to be able to mark off of your 'bucket list.'
ReplyDeleteEven if you had not been able to see any monkeys on the Safari, just think - you have been practically living with 6(8 if you count Arnold and Daryl,) for the past several days. Zack don't worry about your socks, I'm sure the animals did not mind and I think the Fashion Police were 'out of town.' just kidding!!
Stay safe and enjoy your last few hours of your 'mountain top'experience! We are so proud of all of you and know that you all have made a wonderful impression on all that you have encounter. We pray that God will continue to keep His protective shield around you as you finish you trip and come home to families and friends that eagerly await your arrive. Love and prays, G & P
Awesome pictures!! So glad you guys are having a great time :). So tonight I was watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and he was in East and South Africa...and he went to Carnvores! I was like.."Hey!! my friends were just there!!" Miss you guys and praying for you! :)
ReplyDeletePS: Daryl... always remember the W.A.S.
Great pictures, chill bumps just looking at them and knowing our folks are right there in that beautiful place. I still hope you got to hear their sounds. Just awesome. Enjoy it to the max. So many Americans are in Kenya now covering and caring for the Somalian people that have come over for food and health care.
ReplyDeleteEven Dr. Gupta from Atlanta is there. I know though that each of you has made just as much of an impact on the future as they have, that the children you are working with will never forget
you. Praise God, and we are all so very proud of each of you. Love, Nana
Aron . . . a hyrex?? WOW!! I am so jealous!! A biology teacher can only dream . . . LOL!!
ReplyDeleteY'all's safari sounds like yet another great gift God has graced you with . . . how can ANYONE see the beauty of the savanna, see the movement of these amazing animals, hear the sounds, etc., and deny God? Unfathomable!
I know about now y'all are getting ready to come back to America . . . notice I didn't say home, because by now, you've realized you can be "home" in many places, wherever the Lord leads! Believe me, your "safari" (swahili for "journey") has just begun!
Y'all take care, be safe, hold on to each other, and hurry back!
I love you guys!
Ms. Julia
P.S. Daryl, I'm glad the wildebeests cooperated again this year!
Awesome! All those pictures are amazing and everyone looks so happy! God has definitely blessed this trip! I can't wait to see everyone and hang out with everyone and hear all about it, but at the same time I'm sure most of ya'll don't want to come back! I guess this is a bit of debriefing before ya'll head back to America, but don't focus so much on what ya'll have done there that you forget God has great things in store for you to do here when you get back. We are now equipping saints to reach the world, but our work begins where God has placed us then we extend farther and farther to reach the nations! I love all of ya'll! Keep serving our Father with pure devotion. Your brother, Jordan
ReplyDeleteP.S. Secretary bird huh? Someone should've totally grab one of those to answer the phones here at the station! LOL
